Police Arrest School Teacher For Allegedly Raping 12-Year-Old Female Student

BUCHANAN, Liberia- The Women and Children Protection section of the Liberia National Police in Grand Bassa County is investigating a 47-year-old classroom teacher identified as Lawranso Clark for allegedly raping a female student, age 12.

Mr. Clark, who is a teacher of the Lloydsville Public School, was accused of raping a third grade student on Monday, June 27 at his residence in Grand Bassa County.

Suspect Clark was arrested and detained by Police following a complaint filed against him by the victim’s father, known as Oscar that his daughter was sexually abused by defendant Clark at his house which is not too far from the school campus.

The student’s father said when his daughter came from school showing signs of weakness and couldn’t standby herself, he immediately intervene and she told him that her teacher, Mr. Clark forcibly had sexual intercourse with her after asking her  to go inside his bedroom to get something for him.

The victim’s father said after the incident occurred, she was immediately rushed to the Buchanan Government Hospital where she was tested by health authorities and confirmed penetration.

During police preliminary investigation, suspect Clark allegedly admitted having sexual affair with the girl after medical report revealed that she was tempered with.

Mr. Jueh narrated “The vice Principal Morris David sent for teacher Lawranso Clark and when he came, he admitted of having sexual affairs with my daughter about two weeks ago after he invited she and her friends to his house and her friends later escaped from her”.

“Mr. Clark wanted us to compromise the case but I said no and I contacted the police and they arrested him” he added.

Mr. Clark, who is presently behind bars at the headquarters of the Liberia National Police in Buchanan, is expected to be forwarded to court on Tuesday, July 5 for prosecution.

But there is so far no public reaction from the school teacher regarding the allegation against him.

Some one year ago, President George Weah declared rape a National Emergency.

His announcement came in response to a crime after a fifteen-year-old boy alleged raped a three-year-old girl, using a razor blade to commit the crime.
