GBARNGA, Liberia- The Commander of the Crime Services Division of the Liberia National Police Bong Detachment in the central Bong County has declared Abraham Sumo Yarkpawolo wanted by the police in connection with an alleged murder.
Police Comman John Kellenso Flomo said Mr. Yarkpawolo is being considered a prime suspect linked to the death of Annie Warmeh. Mr. Yarkpawolo. He was a boyfriend to the victim, is also the town Chief of Butasu, a community the deceased has resided since birth.
Speaking to the press recently here in Gbarnga, Commander Flomo said that Abraham, the boyfriend of the victim had earlier reported the missing case to the Liberia National Police in Gbarnga. But he has since refused to show up following the discovery of Annie’s lifeless body. Annie was beheaded.
He explained that the case is currently pending at the Gbarnga Police Station while Abraham Yarkpawolo is on the run.
It is not however, clear how he is linked to the crime, but police say he has been invited but has not appeared in person.
Police also say he is not available at his home any longer, thus leading to numerous questions.
“When he reported that the girl was missing, the police dispatched a team of officers along with him to search. While in the operation, the team found that the girl was murdered; and since then, the police have not seen him. He is in hiding,” Commander Flomo narrated.
Meanwhile, the Liberia National Police Bong County detachment has called on family members of the deceased to remain clam, as they thoroughly investigate the case.
Background
In early October this year, the lifeless body of Annie Warmeh was discovered around Taylor’s farm with several body parts extracted.
Witnesses then informed this outlet that Annie 21, was the girlfriend of the village of Butasu chief Mr. Abraham Sumo Yarkpawolo who left the village on Monday for Gbarnga.
The sources furthered that after the victim had left for Gbarnga at about 10:00am, she didn’t return to the village until her body discovery two days later.
Moses Harmon, the uncle of the deceased explained that the victim was seen lying in the pool of blood with her private part and eyes extracted.
Most recently, Bong County, like other counties, has been known for unwanted killings. It is not really clear what has necessitated these killings, but some people attribute them to ritualistic purposes.
Others also horn it to jealousy.
Mr. John Kelenso Flomo also urged the public to report his presence to the Liberia National Police in order for justice to prevail.
“Let me encourage the public to be in the look out for him. We have already shared his photos to the public. We need to answer some questions,” he urged.
Some rights advocates have also expressed dismay over these killings and want it curtailed, describing it as opprobrium.
