In Bong: Man Who Killed His Wife Over “Jealousy” Charged & Sent To Court

GBARNGA, Liberia-Police in the central Bong County have arrested, charged and sent to court a man identified as Dolo Kollie, age 41 for allegedly murdering his wife recently in Mano Wainsue, Jorquelleh district #2.

During police preliminary investigation in Gbarnga on Thursday, April 8, 2021 admitted to murdering his wife with a cutlass blaming it on “jealousy”.

The incident, according to the police took place on March 31, 2021 where Dolo and his late wife have been residing for the past 15 years.

Family sources said after committing the act, Dolo was arrested on Wednesday, April 7 while on the run, after he killed his wife who he had nine children by, Hawa Yarkpawolo, age 43.

Police said Dolo was involved in a feud with his wife on the night of her death. He accused her of having an affair with another man in the nearby town.

During the confusion, he flogged his wife, who then decided to divorce him.

“The accused was angry at his wife for divorcing him,” police said. “He then killed her by chopping her neck five times with a cutlass.”

After killing her, he fled the scene. The victim’s body was found the same day by her younger sister when she went to ask for her. The sister reported the discovery to the town chief who later informed the police.

Dolo was arrested one week after in Botota, Kokoyah Statutory District after police launched a manhunt operations.

He then told police he killed his wife because she betrayed him.

Police here have meanwhile reassured citizens of Bong County that it’s remains committed in protecting lives and properties of all, despite the prevailing logistical challenges.
