SPORTS: In His Debut, Liberian Local Striker Emmanuel Bonkar Axe SLY FC With A Lone Goal

In Victory At ICA Sports Academy

The former Prosper FC player has scored a decisive goal in his SLY FC debut, as SLY FC begin their league season in Liberian football.

It was a 1-0 narrow home win over Africa Sports Academy.

The match which was showcase at the opened-air Nancy B Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata Margibi County on Tuesday, 9 January in continuation of the championship for the LFA- Margibi Sub-Association Third Division 2023/2024 League Season.

The match marks the first competitive league game fixture played in the Upper end since the start of thec new season which kick-off on Saturday, 6 January at the Smell No Taste football pitch in Lower Margibi County.

On Tuesday,9 January at the zenith football house of Margibi County the opened-air Nancy B. Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata it was a tense and an entertaining football displayed between the two Upper end outfit clubs SLY FC and Africa Sports Academy.

SLY FC and Africa Sports Academy played to a scoreless first half.

Back from recess it was Loonee Emmanuel Bonkar who broke the deadlock in the 79th minute of the match in the second half to secure first three points for SLY FC over Africa Sports Academy.

Despite creating lots of chances during the second half of the match Champions Africa Sports Academy (ASA) could not get on the score sheet to salvage a point as Emmanuel Bonkar lone goal in the second half grabs a 1-0 narrow home win for SLY FC over Africa Sports Academy.

Bonkar, joined SLY FC from Prosper FC earlier this summer on loan.

SLY FC won the 2022/2023 League Season of the LFA- Margibi Sub-Association Upper Subcommittee Community League Championship

The club won the league undefeated as they continue the unbeaten record in the debut game of the LFA- Margibi Sub-Association Third Division League.

As for Africa Sports Academy (ASA) it marks the first defeat for the Upper Margibi Sub-Committee Champions and Margibi County Champions.

The win for debutant SLY FC puts the club second on the league table while the defeat to the Champions Africa Sports Academy (ASA) puts the club second to the bottom of the league table.

Elsewhere, at the Unification Sports Pitch in Smell No Taste, Lower Margibi in the opening match of the 2023/2024 LFA- Margibi Sub-Association Third Division League on Saturday, 6 January Kollie Jallah’s second half goal, salvage a point for One Goal Football Academy in an away fixture. JABU FC and One Goal Football Academy share points as both teams played to a one-all-draw at full time.

And on Sunday, 7 January at the same venue FC Quincy claimed a comeback victory against Doris FC in an away fixture after Doris FC took an early 1-0 first half lead over FC Quincy.

FC Quincy defeated Doris FC 5-2 after been reduced to 8-men which saw two of the players showing red card.

In the final match to climax the weekend SUSA FC and Weintown United FC share points as both teams played to a scoreless full-time.

The league takes a break and continues over the weekend with Round 2 at both Lower end and the Upper end of Margibi County.
