In Grand Bassa County: “Evil spell” allegedly causes two deaths

Reports received by www.newspublictrust.com say Zwehn and David Cee Town in Liberia’s southern Grand Bassa County has been engulfed by an “evil spell”, which has allegedly led to the deaths of the Officer in Charge at a local clinic and one child.

He is Mr. Alexander Joe, head of the Civil Compound in Number Two District in Grand Bassa and a child. The child’s identity was not immediately known.

People in this and other regions of Liberia hold onto strong traditional beliefs and practices.

Speaking to this news outlet via mobile phone recently, Compound Number Two District Commissioner, Mr. Jonathan Reeves said the evil spell has attacked three under age children, leaving one dead after the evil spell and child mother susseledtruggled over the child for several hours.

According to commissioner Reeves, the evil shallow attacked on three occasions in the area and one of such was the attack on OIC Joe child where the child and mother were at asleep during the night.

Mr. Reeves added that “when something entered on them that fateful light like shallow and took the child but both the evil shallow and child mother struggle over the child and the following day the child died.”


The local official also explained that recently, another incident of such occurred where the child and mother were again asleep during the night when the evil spell entered and took the child outside and started carrying same away. But Mr. Reeves explained that while being carried, the child’s mother yelled for help and the evil spell then released the child and disappeared.

The child was late that afternoon taken to a local church prayer center for spiritual healing.

In a related development, there are reports of alleged ritualistic activities emerging in Zwehn and David Cee in Grand Bassa County. This is said to be claiming the attention of some locals. Report by Garmah Never Lomo
