Monrovia–To avert potential terrorism and violent extremism in the Mano River Union countries of Liberia, Guinea, Sierra Leone and Ivory Coast, the Center for Economic Crimes and Security Studies (CESS), will this Monday, July 29, 2024 hold a Media Roundtable with top Liberian Journalists in Monrovia.

ECOWAS Radio will serve as the host, with the regional broadcaster coordinator, Eva Flomo, serving as the moderator. News Public Trust Managing Editor, Frank Sainworla, Jr. Internews Senior Journalism Trainer Torwon Solunteh-Brown, Liberia Broadcasting System Deputy Director General Hassan Kiawu and one of the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) presidential candidates, Julius K. Kanubah will serve as panellists.

A CESS press release issued over the weekend says the Roundtable intends to generate responses from top notch Liberian journalists on how the MRU, with Liberia in particular, could help prevent Terrorism and Violent Extremism.

The Media Roundtable is part of a series of ‘Anti-Terrorism and Violent Extremism’ activities funded by the Inter-Governmental Agency Against Money Laundering in West Africa (GIABA), with CESS serving as the implementing partner.

The Center for Economic Crimes and Security Studies (CESS), formerly Citizen Action for Economic Justice, has over eighteen (18) years of experience into economic crimes and security issues in the Mano River Basin.

The Center has worked with key partners both locally and internationally around these thematic areas. Recently, CESS won a grant from ECOWAS through GIABA to engage and mobilize citizens against violent extremism and terrorism in the Mano River Basin.
