A man, age 38 identified as Daniel Toe has been arrested and sent to jail for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl.
On Saturday, August 8, 2020, parents of the victim reported the matter to the women and Children protection section of the Liberia National Police in Pleebo, in the southeastern Maryland County about the alleged rape of their daughter.
The rape survivor/victim was immediately rushed to the Pleebo Health Center for check and health workers facility confirmed that she was actually tampered with.
The girl narrated her ordeal to residents of the area on Thursday, August 13 2020, saying that she went to visit her friend who is a relative to the suspect in Zone # 6 Catholic Mission.
The also said that her friend had prepared the food, they decided to leave when the suspect called her into the room, informing her that he wanted to have sexual intercourse with her.
The 11-year-old girl said, as she became afraid and fell, the perpetrator then got on top of her and began raping her.
She disclosed that with all the shouting her voice couldn’t come out because the suspect has placed his bedsheet in her mouth.
She later said it was her friends that forced the door of the room before she was released by him.
But the suspect denied the allegation when he was arrested by the Liberia National Police Detachment in Pleebo, Maryland County.
After spending one night behind bars, the suspect was forwarded to the Pleebo Magisterial Court.
The Court has now indicated suspect Daniel Toe on the charge of Statutory Rape, but said that the case is beyond the trial Jurisdiction of the Pleebo Magisterial Court and has being transferred to the Fourth Jurisdiction Court in Harper, Maryland County.
But suspect Daniel Toe has denied the doing but according to the Pleebo Magistral Court, he was in violation of the section 14.70 of the revised rape law of Liberia. The law states that:
A person who has sexual intercourse with another (Male orFemal) has committed rape if; (a)| He intentionally penetrates the Vegina, Anus, Mouth or any other opening of another person (Male or female) with his penis without the victim consent.
Suspect Daniel Toe used to be a well-known businessmen but his business has gone down.
