In Sanniquellie: Fist Fight Over 5 Liberian Dollars Leaves One Dead

SANNIQUELLIE, Liberia- A 29-year-old commercial motorcyclist identified as Jericho Goe Suahgonla has allegedly been stabbed to death here in the northeastern Nimba County, following a fight over five Liberian dollars.

He was recently stabbed in the back of the head with a sharp object before being rushed to the George Way Harley Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

The two brothers reportedly involved in the fight against the late Suahgonla were Clinton Zuweh and Preston Nyanama Zuweh.

Suahgonla is said to have gone to the AU square where he bought airtime for his mobile phone from one of the brothers (Clinton), but later contended that the vendor owed him a balance of five Liberian dollars.

He had given fifty dollars for five minutes of airtime and was given back twenty dollars as change.

The victim vowed the vendor would not take a step unless his change was given in full.

After the fight ensued, one of the brothers is reported to have fatally hit Suahgonla in the head with a glass bottle.

The deceased reportedly sustained multiple wounds in the chest, head, feet, back.

One of the brothers of the late Suahgonla, Othello Suahgonla the death of their brother is shocking and that it has dealt their family a big blow.

He also expressed dismay that bystanders never acted to prevent his brother’s death by intervening in the fight.

The Commander of the Nimba County Police Detachment Agustine Leo Warri has consoled the bereaved family and assured them that the suspects, now being treated in his hospital, will be investigated in order to establish motive behind the crime.
