The local Independent newspaper has reported that Liberia’s Information Minister Ledgerhood Rennie is on the verge of resigning from the CDC government of President George Manneh Weah, but the Minister says he doesn’t have such plan to quit.

Minister Rennie made the clarification in a statement issued in Monrovia yesterday, Monday.

Statement From The Minister of Information

 October 10, 2022

I have read with utter shock and bewilderment the front page story of the Independent Newspaper suggesting that I am contemplating resigning my post as Minister of Information. The paper quoted what it called “credible sources” within the Ministry.

I wish to first distance myself from the publication as I have harboured no such intention. I remain very committed to serving my country, an opportunity which is bestowed through the appointment and subsequent commissioning by His Excellency Dr. George M Weah, President of the Republic of Liberia.

While I have been away in the US, access to me through many media of communications was still available to the publisher of the Independent Newspaper. But it was unfortunately never utilized.

I therefore owe it to the public, as a senior official, to make the necessary clarification in order to uphold their trust, while executing my duties and role as Minister.

Signed: _______________

Ledgerhood J. Reenie
