MONROVIA – The finalists for Accountability Lab Liberia’s Integrity Idol Liberia Campaign have been announced, the organizers have announced in Monrovia.

Integrity Idol Liberia is an annual campaign that moves away from “naming and shaming” corrupt officials and towards “naming and faming” Liberia’s most honest government civil servants.

Now in its fourth year in Liberia, the campaign has proven extremely popular, especially in a post-election year when citizens are thinking about the importance of integrity within government, according to a press release from the Accountability Lab Liberia issued on Wednesday.

Dorbor Jallah PPCC Executive Director

Integrity Idol Liberia received over 2,736 nominations from the country’s most honest civil servants this year from all 15 counties. After 4 selection rounds the top 33 candidates were presented to an expert panel of judges.

This panel selected the top 5, who include: Patrica Togba, Ministry of Gender,  Mr. James Dorbor Jallah, Executive Director, Public Procurement & Concession Commission,  Mr. Michael T. Dahn, Bong Technical College, Mr. Marpue Yekeku, Ministry of Health and Mr. James Saybleh, Ministry of Justice

“I am thrilled to announce these finalists; they are all role models from whom the rest of us should learn” said Lawrence Yealue, Country Director of Accountability Lab Liberia. He added: “We will now profile all of them- through film, on the radio and online- and citizens across Liberia will be able to vote for their favorite in this public campaign in late November and early December”..

The candidates profiles will be disseminated widely and anyone can vote for free through an SMS short code (8355), by Whatsapp, online at www.integrityidol.org/liberia and through Facebook.

Yealue added: “These are all Integrity Idols- it is critical that we create a positive conversation around issues of integrity in this country. Too often we focus on the problems. This campaign is about identifying role-models and positive, collective solutions to the challenges we face as a nation”.
