The Ivorian Ambassador accredited near Monrovia has cautioned his fellow compatriots to remain law abiding, especially in the wake of the enforcement of the state of emergency in Liberia.
Ambassador Funi Kouakou said they should respect the laws in Liberia and consider this country as their second home in order to live peacefully.
Ambassador Kuakou spoke when he presented large quantity of rice, cartoons of sardine, cooking oil and sanitizers worth over 10,000 United States dollars to the Ivorian community residing in Liberia and vulnerable Liberians residing around the Ivorian Embassy in Monrovia.
According to Ambassador Kouakou, the items donated were mobilized from well established Ivoirians residing in Liberia purposely to share with their counterparts who do not have enough funding for in the midst of the lock down as a result of corona virus.
He appealed to Ivoirians to also respect the protocols put in place by the Ministry of Health, the National Public Health Institute and the World Health Organization.
Ambassador Kouakou expressed disappointment on the manner in which some people are in the constant habit of violating the protocols put in place by the health authorities
The Ivoirian envoy cautioned his fellow compatriots to work towards the curbing the spread in order for development to accelerate in Liberia and the rest of the West African sub region.
He pointed out that Liberia and the Ivory Coast are two brotherly nations that underwent difficult days in their history and it is the time for the pupils to work together in curbing this invisible enemy.
The diplomat also appealed to the leadership of the Ivoirian Community in Liberia to ensure that the donated items reach the those the donations are meant for because there are thousands of people who are finding it difficult in securing their daily meal
Receiving the items, the Chairman of the Ivoirian Community in Liberia, Tieguhi Laurent, assured Ambassador Kouakou that the items donated will be distributed especially among the less fortunate counterparts throughout the country
He thanked Ambassador Kouakou and Ivoirian government for remembering them in this difficult time amidst the outbreak of the corona virus in the country
Also speaking on behalf of the elderly residing near the embassy, Martha Weah, thanked the Ivoirian diplomat for remembering the old folks during the state of emergency in Liberia.
She said the Ivoirian Embassy is the only institution that has contributed food and sanitizers to less vulnerable people residing around the 17th and 18th Streets, Sinkor since the outbreak of the corona virus and imposition of the state of emergency.
The presentation ceremony was witnessed by the leadership of the Ivoirian Community in Liberia, officials at the Ivoirian Embassy and old folks residing around the Ivoirian Embassy.
