Lawmaker Links Motorcyclists To Criminality

A member of the 54th Legislature has linked motorcyclists across Liberia to criminality and has complained them to his colleagues.

Nimba County District #2 lawmaker, Prince O.S. Tokpah in his complain to the House of Representatives on Thursday informed his colleagues that he has observed what he called continue violence displayed by commercial motorcyclists across Liberia.

The Nimba Lawmaker said that since the Inspector General of the Liberia National Police relaxed restrictions on commercial motorcyclists, the have been unlawful acts against peaceful Liberians.

According to him, those are in the habit of hit and run in Monrovia and parts adjacent without regulated plate and driver licenses.

He alleged that criminals make use of unidentified commercial cyclists to take away cellphones in the especially when people accreditation.

The Nimba County lawmaker also alleged that all of the safety rules are in total violation by commercial motorcyclists in Liberia.

“Accordingly, and with the present security warning in our region concerning terrorist, I plead for your indulgence that the Minister of transport and the Police Inspector General be invited to plenary on Tuesday June 12,2018 to address these issues” Representative Tokpah added in his communication.

When and communication was read and opened for deliberations, members of the House of Representatives agreed that because of the security sensitivity of the communication, House’s Committees on National Security and Transportation should be mandated to investigate report their findings with in a period of two weeks.
