KAKATA, Liberia— As the 2026/2027 academic year gets underway, SHE CAN Sisters, in partnership with alumna Sema M. Williams, have dedicated a modern computer laboratory to St. Paul Lutheran High School in Margibi County.
The colorful dedication ceremony was held on August 21, 2026, at the school’s facility in the Lango Town Community, Kakata.
The project, valued at over USD $6,000.00 is intended to improve students’ access to computers and internet services while strengthening their knowledge and skills in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
Speaking during the ceremony, Sema M. Williams, an alumna of St. Paul Lutheran High School, said the project represents her way of giving back to the institution that played an important role in her education.
Williams recalled that during her time at the school, students faced significant challenges in accessing computers and internet services, making it difficult to complete homework, assignments, and other academic activities.
“During my time at this institution, we found it difficult to gain computer knowledge and access the internet to do our homework and assignments. For you, the students, it will be different,” Williams said.
The 2021/ 2022 graduate explained that the computer laboratory was made possible through a partnership with her sister from SHE CAN Sisters, with the goal of making computer and internet services more accessible to students at the institution.
In separate remarks, Ma Janga Clarke, co-chair of the school board, speaking on behalf of the board, praised the initiative and commended the donors for the gesture.
Meanwhile, the school’s principal, Mr. Gotoe Jallah, thanked Sema M. Williams and SHE CAN Sisters for remembering their alma mater and undertaking what he described as a significant project.
Principal Jallah assured the donors that the school would use the computer laboratory for its intended purpose and ensure that students benefit fully from the facility.
He also encouraged other alumni of St. Paul Lutheran High School to return to their alma mater and contribute to its growth and development, following the example set by Williams.
The newly dedicated computer laboratory is expected to provide students with improved access to digital learning resources, internet services, and practical computer training, helping to enhance their academic performance and digital literacy.
