Opens First Decentralized Service Center In Buchanan

‎‎The Liberia Telecommunications Authority -LTA has opened its first decentralized service center in the port city of Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, bringing telecommunications regulatory and consumer protection services closer to residents.

‎‎Speaking during the opening ceremony in Buchanan on Friday, September 4, 2026, LTA Chairman Clarence Massaquoi emphasized that decentralization must go beyond simply establishing offices.

‎‎Massaquoi said the Authority is committed to being more responsive to the concerns of citizens, while creating employment opportunities and opening greater prospects for young people in Grand Bassa County.‎

‎He added that the Buchanan center will also support community radio stations with regulatory compliance and serve as a model for expanding LTA services to other counties.

‎‎Meanwhile, Grand Bassa County Superintendent Karyou Johnson welcomed the initiative, describing it as a historic step toward bringing government services closer to citizens and ensuring that residents have easier access to essential telecommunications services.
