Liberia gravitating toward Sodom and Gomorrah Days

(Last Updated On: )

-As Same Sex activities openly being practiced prompting mounting condemnations

It’s a public spectacle that beats many imagination—woman openly kissing another woman.

“Liberia is a country founded on a Christian principle,” this is a common saying here in Africa’s oldest independent Republic, where homosexuality is forbidden by law and a cultural practice that is miles away from what is known to most Liberians.

Under Liberian statute, this is considered as “public nuisance”.

Proponents of the Gay and Lesbien practice in Liberia have been agitating for rights and same sex activities in the Liberian society.

Over the past decade, they have stepped up their activities. In fact, the practice itself is widely believed to have gradually taken root in the country, with many of the Godfathers and Godmothers said to be among the rich and powerful.

Although there are regulations on the books against same sex practice, it appears that those regulations are not being enforced, as there are reports that it is being openly practiced in some places in Monrovia.

Recently at the Live Concert of the Nigerian popular music star, Devido, two women were seen openly kissing directly in the mouth and caressing each other, as if the practice was not prohibited in the Liberian society.

Another public scene

The identities of the two women seen in the photo was not known.

The above photograph of the two female love partners has gone viral on the Social Media, claiming the attention of those who called themselves of not only Christian faithful in Liberia but  Muslims as well.

The two religious groups have publically condemned the act and described it as “satanic, devilish” and they want the Liberian government to take the necessary steps to ensure that those in such habit face the law.

One person who is against such an act is Rev. Sam Kollie, Pastor of the Oneness Faith Apostolic Church-Duport Road Branch who has over the years preached against homosexuality.

According to the preacher, God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for such a sin.

He said in genesis 19 verses 24, “Then the Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah—from the Lord out of the heavens. 25 Thus he overthrew those cities and the entire plain, destroying all those living in the cities—and also the vegetation in the land. 26 But Lot’s wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.”

Also, some commentators on the social media platform such as Facebook have condemned the act, calling on the Liberian government to identify those ladies found in the act. If they are not Liberians they should be deported to the country of origin.

The unanswered question now is how will the Liberian government going to address this issue? Report by Mark N. Mengonfia- mmenginfia@gmail.com
