Liberia Police arrest murder suspect who’s been on the run for 7yrs.

After being on the run for seven years, police in the Liberian capital, Monrovia have arrested, investigated and duly charged suspect Mohammed Kanneh with murder.

He was recently charged under the new penal code article 14.20 for killing a man identified as Bangalee Konneh in a gruesome manner in the LPRC Community near the Liberian capital.

A statement from the Liberia National Police (LNP) said during preliminary investigation conducted with suspect Kanneh, it was established that in the month of November 2012, the suspect allegedly stabbed the deceased victim, Bangalie Konneh in the stomach.

After that, he is said to have fled the scene realizing the seriousness of the injury inflicted on the victim and had been on the run for seven (7) years until he was arrested on Friday, February 22, 2019 in Monrovia and forwarded to court for prosecution.

At the same time, the LNP says it has arrested another suspect identified as Moina K. Sando, who has also been on the run. In this case, he was on the run for seven Months for Murder.

The Liberia National Police has arrested suspect Moina K. Sando who was on the run for seven months after he allegedly murdered Moses Raynes since August 14, 2018 in Banjor, Jartu Town, Lower Virginia outside Monrovia.

Suspect Sando was arrested on March 4, 2019 by the help of the Community Watch Forum in Kelebeh Town, Bong County and brought to Monrovia where the crime was committed for prosecution, the LNP statement said.

  He is currently in custody at central police Headquarters undergoing investigation.

In another incident in the town of Foya, Liberia’s northwestern Lofa County, the Police detachment there is said to be investigating a 23-year-old resident of Kpangamai Town for allegedly murdering his 22-year-old old girlfriend of the same address.

According to Police preliminary investigative report from the County recently, a 65-year-old man identified as Joseph Saah Laminee reported to Police the discovery of a decayed body of a woman, age 23 identified as Sarah F. Moses on his farm in Kpangamai.

Police preliminary report also established that suspect Francis Saah Matthew and the deceased victim where in a prolong altercation resulting to death threats from the suspect. The report further confirmed that the suspect fled the town upon hearing the news of the victim’s body being found and had been on the run since March 3, 2019.

Meanwhile, suspect Matthew was arrested by the Foya Police detail on March 7 2019 at 10pm and has been transferred to the detachment’s Headquarters in the provincial capital, Voinjama for investigation pending court action.

According to the police statement, since the inception of Police Inspector General Patrick Sudue’s administration over one year ago, frantic efforts have been made to arrest alleged murders including: 71-year-old Josiah Kerwon of Bomeh Town, Nimba County, Dylah Dweyan of Kenpea, Nimba county, Sumowu Ballah of Zelemai, Lofa county and Alieu Jalloh of West Point.

Others are: Jonathan Williams of Duport Road, Rosevett Deman formerly of the LNP, Saah Joseph of New Georgia Estate Road, Nyanti, Chie Togba and Joe Sekpeh, all of Grand Kru County respectively.

Murder is in violation of Chapter 14, subchapter A section 14.1 of the revised penal code of the Republic of Liberia.

The Liberia National Police has assured the public that a seperate murder case involving Joyce Otu-Jaywheh of ELWA community and Victor Fahnbulleh of Banjor, Lower Virginia and other related cases are still priorities to the LNP.

“The public is urged to assist the LNP in whatever information they may have leading to the arrest of these suspects. We are convinced that no matter how long it takes, the suspects in these cases will be arrested and made to face the full weight of the law,” the police statement concluded.
