The Muslim community in Liberia is expected to take a stand on the debate on the Bill of impeachment before the Liberian Senate, the Chairman of the National Muslim Council has said in Monrovia.

Sheik Omara Kamara maintained that the debate on the impeachment has claimed that attention of the Muslim leaders and are they are concerned about the events unfolding at the Capitol Hill.

The House of Representatives last week passed a Bill of Impeachment and sent it to the Liberian senate for the removal of Associate Justice Kabineh Ja’neh alleging abuse of power, among other charges.

The House earlier defied a Supreme Court Stay Order on their impeachment proceedings until it looked into the matter.

Sheik Kamara cautioned the House of Representatives and the Supreme Court to peacefully resolve their differences  and advise the Liberian Senate not to follow the foot step of the lower house.

The National Muslim Council’s Chairman maintained that he suspects jealousy, greed and hate are the causes of the confusion between the House of Representatives and Associate Justice Ja’neh.

But the leadership of the Liberian Senate took siege of the Bill of impeachment and did not give any time for the case to be brought at the plenary of the upper house.

Meanwhile, the first batch of the 74 Liberian Muslims, who left Monrovia for one month-long pilgrimage in Mecca, Saudi Arabia have returned home.

The Chairman of National Muslim Council of Liberia, Sheik Omara Kamara, disclosed that the second batch of 161 others is expected in the country this Friday, September 9, 2018.

Speaking in an interview, Sheik Kamara disclosed that the Muslim Council is planning a formal reception for the pilgrims are expected to take place upon the return of President George Weah from China.

Sheik Kamara said all of the pilgrims did not use one airline to travel to Saudi Arabia and as such, they will not be able to use one to return.

He said some of the pilgrims applied for tickets to travel to Mecca late, he said.

”Some of the pilgrims were misled by people on ground that each one of them will pay 3,500 United States Dollars as compared 4,500 United States Dollars charged by the council,”  the National Muslim Council official explained.
