Police Inspector General Patrick Sudue, Monday snubbed a writ of arrest issued by Criminal Court “C” for contempt of court, before reigning insults on the Sheriff.

“When we got to Director Sudue and told him that we had a writ of arrest for him and that he should kindly walk over with us, he got emotional and insulted us, asking us to get out of his office”, Daniel E. Gould, Sheriff of the court wrote in his return submitted to the court.

According to the return, the police boss also boasted that he was a presidential appointee and that he was going to communicate with the Justice Minister instead of submitting to the writ.

Criminal Court C at the Temple of Justice wants the Police Inspector-General arrested for failing to comply with a court ruling to turn over five vehicles confiscated from a used car dealer.

The cars were seized and the dealer Amstrong Tony Campbell charged with smuggling, criminal conspiracy and criminal conspiracy related to a reported under declaration of what was thought to be the actual value of the imported cars, subsequently forwarding him to court.

State prosecutors took appeal to the Supreme Court after Criminal Court “C” ruled in favor of Mr. Campbell.

The High Court similarly upheld the lower court’s decision on December 31, 2019, consequently leading to the Criminal Court to order Inspector – General Sudue to turn over the vehicles currently impounded at the headquarters of the Liberia National Police (LNP), a mandate he is yet to respect.
