Liberian Women Commit To Embark On Massive Girl’s Education Awareness Campaign

Liberian women across the fifteen counties have committed themselves through an MOU to embark on a massive awareness campaign aimed at focusing on girl’s education at a recent program.

The women’s objectives are to see girl children in school and finishing school under the Educate Her project, instead of early marriage or early parenthood.

The Paramount Young Women Initiative (PAYOWI)and its co-partners recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with fifteen women leaders to focus and highlight female education across the fifteen counties in Liberia.

These organizations are mainly concentrated for females to stay in school and finish instead of early marriage as it has been in the past.

The Project is titled as Educate HER Coalition and it is led by three women-led and women-focused national-level non-governmental organizations namely Helping Our People Excel Incorporated (HOPE), Paramount Young Women Initiative (PAYOWI) and Care-Found Liberia (Care-Found).

The three organizations have formed a partnership for an advocacy campaign; EDUCATE HER: Promoting Gender Equity and Equality in Education. Under the auspices of this campaign, they will build a coalition that will advocate for the effective implementation of the policies that will advance Girls Education in Liberia.

The three local organizations will Provide technical assistance to ensure the trained citizens implement bi-annual deliverables as per the county action plan where they will Coordinate and supervise meetings held by the trained citizens and local authorities.

They will also Monitor the progress of the bi-annual deliverables as per the county action plan and adequately manage funds and logistical support for county action plan and Compile and submit quarterly narrative and financial reports to the Paramount Young Women Initiative.

Under the MOU, the Paramount Young Women Initiative will host bi-annual planning meetings with trained citizens and the local partners who Provide a directory of trained citizens.

Meanwhile, the implementing organization, PAYOWI will Provide funds and technical support for the management and implementation of the county action plans as per the budget.
