Liberia’s Climate Change Queen Wants Liberians To See Climate Change As A National Fight

Monrovia – In an effort to fight Climate change in Liberia, Miss. Korkor Suprise Chie has called on the General Public to see Climate Change as a global and national concern and calls to take action as means to have a safe environment in the future.

Climate change is referred to as long-term shifts in the temperature and weather patterns, adding these shifts may be natural, such as through variations in the solar circle, and sometimes, it is primarily due to burning fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas. As a result of this, it causes disasters around the world.

Miss Climate change is organized by “Tina (TN) Nyunkor” Beauty Pageant and Modelling Service that aim at providing opportunities for young Liberian Girls, to explore their individual talents through pageantry as a means of creating awareness on the effects of climate change.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with journalist, Miss Korkor Suprise Chie calls on Liberians to see the fight against climate change as major priority so as to have a safe and sound environment and promote good health hazard in our homes void of harmful treats.

She added that if Liberians see the need to consider Climate change fight as a national concern, they will always continue to have a safe and healthy atmosphere, but this can only be achieved by a mean of creating awareness and providing the education so that people would to take action through precautionary measures such cleaning their environments and making use of a disposable trash can in their respective surroundings.

The winner of 2022-2023 Climate change Beauty Pageant used the medium to extend her heartfelt gratitude to the Liberian government for the platform for young Liberian Girls to the ambassadors of change.

As a crowned queen of this prestigious contest, she would work with her fellow contestants, to ensure a proper awareness and education is provided to make Liberia a safe and sound environment.

She at the same time cautions young Liberian teenagers who desiring stepping in her footsteps, to see beauty pageant not only as social interactions, but importantly as educative interactions that explores a person to several ventures that comes with positive outcomes and promotes yourself esteem in society.

“The process to becoming Miss. Climate change was educative, because I learned a lot. I experienced new things and I had adventure as well. Climate change is a global issue and during the process we learn about it. Not only in Liberia but the world at large,” Miss. Chie mentioned.

Meanwhile, Miss. Chie admonished others who are beginning to get into this venture, to be focused and build their confidence, urging them to believe in their selves and maintain their pride.

She told them not to be intimidated by anyone and have the mentality of perseverance.
