Over 135 workers at the Bea Mountain Mining Company in Grand Cape Mount County, western Liberia have reportedly been suspended after  demanding their over-time pay from the management.

Sam Kazeh, the spokesman of the workers claimed that the company currently owes the employees 18 months and the management is saying that the workers have been paid over the years.

Addressing a press conference in Monrovia at the weekend, Kazeh noted that the management has brought worker from Turkey, Tanzania and Mali purposely to do job that can be done by Liberians.

He explained that management has brought clerk for fuel, welders and masons paying high salaries and taking Liberian out of the jobs.

But when contacted, the General Manager at the Bea Mountain Mining Company, David Allen denied the allegations by the striking employees.

Allen also denied claims that the management is bringing foreigners into the country to fill the jobs that can be done by Liberians.

He has meanwhile said the company’s management is prepared to absorb these employees once they accept the conditions and rules governing employees at the entity.
