Commissioner General Highlights Direct Public Services Communities Get From Paying Taxes
The Liberia Revenue Authority has officially launched Taxpayer Appreciation Month 2026 under the theme: From Vision to Reality: Taxpayers Delivering a Billion-Dollar Budget, recognizing the critical role taxpayers play in national development, a press release from LRA says.
Speaking at the launch, LRA Commissioner General James Dorbor Jallah described taxpayers as the driving force behind Liberia’s progress, highlighting the country’s record-breaking domestic revenue performance in 2025.
Assistant Commissioner Isaac Beyan Stevens emphasized that paying taxes goes beyond a civic obligation, noting that it represents a direct investment in essential public services such as roads, healthcare, education, and the nation’s future.
Also speaking, Natty B. Davis, Pres ident of the Liberia Chamber of Commerce, who officially launched this year’s Taxpayer Appreciation Month, underscored the importance of tax payment in supporting national development.
He stressed that citizens must fulfill their tax obligations for government to equally ensure service delivery and implement programs for its people.
The launch brought together key stakeholders, including LRA officials, private sector representatives and partners among others.
Activities planned for this year’s Taxpayer Appreciation Month include stakeholder engagements, Student Tax Day, promotion of digital services, the launch of a contact center, a corporate social responsibility event, digital symposium, and an awards dinner among others.
More than 50 taxpayers are expected to be honored for their compliance and contributions to tax payment and national development.
