LRA Says It Supports Speedy Probe Into Mysterious Deaths Of Employees Albert & Gifty

(Last Updated On: )

The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) says it is in shock and mourns the discovery of the bodies of two of its employees Albert Peters, Assistant Commissioner for Internal Audit Department, and Gifty Asmah-Lama, Manager, Taxpayer Service Division.

In a press release published on its website, the LRS says Commissioner General Thomas Doe Nah and management note the loss of great team members and assets to the institution and Liberian government.

The lifeless bodies of two employees of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), who were discovered in a vehicle in Monrovia last Friday, have been subjected to a Coroner examination Monday morning, as Liberian Police IG Patrick Sudue admits there was initial error on the crime scene.

This means that the crime scene was contaminated by not immediately establishing an exclusive perimeter for the investigators to do their job without public intrusion.

But so far, Police have not given any lead into their mysterious deaths.

On early Friday morning, October 2, 2020, the police confirmed the presence of the two LRA employees in a parked vehicle belonging to deceased Assistant Commissioner Peters on Broad Street in Central Monrovia.

The LRA requires that the Liberia National Police (LNP) does all within its power to promptly investigate and establish the actual circumstances surrounding the death of the two employees. The LRA urges the public to assist the police with relevant information that will aid the investigation.

The LRA extends condolences to the families of the two deceased employees and promises to support the LNP and family to conclude the investigation in the shortest period.
