KAKATA, Liberia- Just days after his arrest by Officers of the Liberia National Police (LNP), 20-year-old Darius Freeman has admitted facilitating the death of a motorcyclist who went missing in District #5, Margibi County.

This county is 79 kilometers east of the Liberian capital, Monrovia.

Last March, a motorcyclist identified as Moses Wolopaye commonly known as PCK was hired by three unknown men in Weala, Margibi County, but did not return until his body was discovered in Peter Town, Gibi District Margibi County nearly a week after his death.

This led to a violent protest on April 1st, 2019 in Weala that resulted to the burning down of the Weala Police Station, the Baypolu Magisterial Court, properties of a Liberian businessman (Stephen Tokpah), who was accused of being behind the killing of the motorcyclist, among others.

Since then, the suspects have been on the run until Saturday October 12, 2019 when one of them identified as Darius Freeman was picked up by officers of the Liberia National Police in the Commercial district of Red-Light in the Paynesville suburb of the Liberian capital.

Explaining to newsmen what he claims to know about the death of Moses Wolopaye in Kakata on Thursday October 17, 2019, Darius Freeman said he facilitated his colleague identified as Fredrick Tamba visited him in Weala where he (Darius) had gone for a visit and spent three days with him before returning to Montserrado.

Mr. Darius Freeman disclosed that a week after, Frederick Tamba along with Armstrong who is also a friend to him (Fredrick) returned to Weala.

He stated that Fredrick then went to his house and informed him that the both of them went on a mission to steal motorbike but he (Darius) told Fredrick that he could not facilitate the process on grounds that he had resided in Weala for a long period of time and he is well know.

He recounts that Fredrick and Armstrong later went to a guy named “Doctor K”, who Fredrick befriended during his first visit to him (Darius) and Doctor K hosted them.

The suspect further stated that one afternoon Frederick Tamba and Armstrong went in his yard with a motorbike and knocked at his door and when he got off the house Fredrick told him that they have gotten the bike they went for thus asking him to get ready for them to leave.

Darius also narrated that he told Fredrick and Armstrong that he was not forming part of the mission but his colleagues threatened to expose him if alarm blows thereby leaving him with no alternative but to join them.

“That how myself I took my bag we got on the bike we left, when we reach Baypolu market because after they pick up the man from the road they told the man say they were going Baypolu; soon we reach Baypolu market Armstrong tell the motorbike man say they not stopping Baypolu the man muh carry them Peter Town way,” Darius Freeman said.

According to him, the motorcyclist without delay picked up the bike and they embarked on the journey to Peter Town. He said while on their way Fredrick stopped the cyclist on grounds that he wanted to urinate something he said the motorcyclist did and they all disembarked from the bike.

Fredrick and Moses Wolopaye started urinating adding that it was in that period Armstrong attacked Moses Wolopaye and he was taken into the bush by Armstrong and Fredrick who have asked him (Darius) to stay and guide the bike, according to Darius Freeman.

Darius said not knowing what his colleagues did in the bush they returned to where he was guiding they bike and they all rode on Wolopaye’s motorcycle using Borlorla Road through Kakata to Monrovia.

“Yes the man was yielding rough, rough, rough they carry my motorbike that how they say my man get over the bike let go that how we get over the motorbike we left,” he said.

He noted that when they got to Monrovia, Fredrick and Armstrong asked him to await them at St. Francis Junction stating that after sometimes his colleagues returned without the bike but he was given eight thousand Liberian dollars informing him that they sold the bike already.

Darius then stated that he used the eight thousand Liberian dollars to make petty business. Meanwhile, Fredrick Tamba and Armstrong are reportedly on the run.
