CHENGBETEE TOWN, Liberia—A suspect under investigation has confessed to killing a woman in this part of south here in Grand Kru County.
According to a Liberia National Police investigative report, the prime suspect identified as Bobbyson Bobby admitted to carrying out the murder recently.

Suspect Bobby on Friday, January 9, 2026 took responsibility for the death of the woman only identified as Rose, whose body was earlier discovered in a bush near a road leading to a work site in the area.
In his statement to the police, Bobbyson Bobby narrated that on December 15, 2025, while on his way to his job site, he encountered the deceased along the road.
He claimed he asked Rose where she was coming from, and she reportedly told him she was returning from his work site but did not meet him there.
The suspect further told investigators that he noticed Rose holding a LD$100 note and asked her to give him the money so he could buy liquor.
According to his account, the request was made jokingly, but Rose refused.
He said while attempting to take the money, Rose pushed him away, fell to the ground, and sustained a fatal injury to her neck.
Bobbyson Bobby told police investigation that upon realizing Rose was dead, he panicked and carried her lifeless body into a nearby bush.
According to him, he was overcome by fear and confusion, he fled the area and traveled to his hometown in Nimba County, where he later reported himself to a local police detail.
Police sources confirmed that the suspect was subsequently transferred back to Grand Kru County, where the alleged crime occurred, to assist with ongoing investigations.
Following preliminary findings, the Liberia National Police in Grand Kru County have resolved to charge Bobbyson Bobby with the crime of Murder, in violation of Section 14.1 of the New Penal Code of Liberia.
Authorities say the suspect will be forwarded to court pending trial.
Meanwhile, the latest confession by suspect Bobby has brought a measure of clarity to a case that sparked public outrage and protests in Chengbetee Town and surrounding communities, with residents demanding justice for the deceased.
Police officials in Grand Kru County have assured the public of a transparent legal process as the matter proceeds to court.
