Defendant Admits To The Killing But Claims He Was Provoked To Anger

TEMPLE OF JUSTICE, Monrovia- The Monrovia City sent to jail a 28-year-old man for allegedly killing his friend for stolen bottom phone in the Baptist Seminary community.
The action by the court, presided over Stipendiary Magistrate Ben Barco, was taken n Tuesday June 4,2024,
Defendant Jamel Dinerson, who allegedly committed the act on May 17,2024, was charged with manslaughter by the Liberian National Police in violation of Chapter 14, sub-chapter A, section 14.2 of the Revised Penal law of the Republic of Liberia.
According to the police charge sheet, defendant Dinerson was reminded of his constitutional rights for his complicities in the death of victim Kaizer Cooper who was gashed with a glass bottle by defendant Dinerson during an altercation.
Police investigation revealed that victim Cooper on May 17,2024, about 1100am, a confusion surrounding a bottom phone issue ensured between defendant Dinerson and victim Cooper that led to the both of them exchanging words at their Baptist Seminary community.
The altercation escalated to a fight between them at which time defendant Dinerson used a broken bottle and juked victim Cooper’s right elbow that caused him to bleed profusely while running after Dinerson apparently to retaliate but couldn’t reach him, the police charge sheet said.
Accordingly, the community chairman took the victim to a community health center (Tender Medical Clinic) for treatment about 1600 hours but the nurse Jarru K. Gbarmol owner of the Tender care health center said she heard the noise in front of her facilities and when she came outside, she a male victim lying on the ground bleeding.
Nurse Gbarmol said, she briefly spoke with the victim and he provided his mother’s contact number to her but when she placed a call to his mother Mamie Konah, her response was “I am busy” and hung off the line.
The Tender care health provider added that following the hanging off of his mother phone, she saw the victim’s condition, she checked his “BP”, it registered 7.1 and she served the victim with a bottle of 500ML normal saline (N/S) drip to increase his strength and also sutured the wound to prevent the bleeding and advised that he (victim) be taken at a bigger hospital and the chairman and other community members took him away but later received information that he passed(died).
Meanwhile, defendant Dinerson has said that he was provoked to anger and pleaded for forgiveness.
