Man Behind Bars For Raping 8-Year-Old Girl In Cape Mt., Liberia

Reports from Liberia’s Western Liberia Cape Mount County say an 8-year-old girl, who was this week raped by a man, is currently in unbearable pain and is unable to walk, as the suspect has been arrested and placed behind bars.

Boakai Samah, age 18 allegedly raped the little girl last Sunday, December 20, 2020 in Tewor District, the latest in a wave of rape cases in Liberia in recent times.

Earlier this year, President George Manneh Weah declared rape a national emergency in Liberia. And under the rape law, rape is a nonbailable crime.

Suspect Samah reportedly called the 8-year-old survivor in the afternoon when the town the child lives was quiet. He is said to have lured her in his bedroom, covered her mouth with clothe and allegedly inserted his penis into the minor’s private par.

But when he saw that his penis couldn’t penetrate easily after trying to force it through, he used his finger three times to penetrate the 8-year-old survivor.

Social workers say his forced penetration has caused the little girl to have difficulty in walking, making the child to limp in addition to experiencing severe from her waist down.

Immediately after the sexual abuse, the alleged perpetrator escaped from the hands of the Town Chief.

But while trying to escape, Liberia National Police officer later manage to arrest suspect Samah on the highway in the area late Monday night, December 21, 2020. He was then taken to the Teinii Police station where he currently being detained and undergoing investigation.

Meanwhile, the head of the women and children protection at the Teinii Police station, Henry T. Quire told www.newspublictrust.com that the alleged suspect has admitted to committing the act against the 8-year-old survivor.

The survivor has at the same time been taken to the Sinji Health Center for medical treatment. But when first taken there last Monday, she was not treated due to the absence of the Officer in Charge (OIC ). Report by Garmah Never Lomo, garmahlomo@gmail.com
