KAKATA, Liberia- With reports of electoral violence in some of the political subdivisions of Liberia, a senatorial candidate on the ticket of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) in Margibi County, Ivar K. Jones admonishes his supporters.

Jones, who is incumbent Representative for District #2, is advising his supporters not to get involved into violent activities during the period of the political campaign.

Speaking at a recent endorsement program in the County, Rep. Jones encouraged his supporters to be tolerant even if they are offended by opposition politicians.

“As we are leaving from here today, we ask you to be peaceful, we want you to be kind because you have exercise your constitutional right as enshrined in Article 1 of the Liberian Constitution, as enshrined in Article 17 of the Liberian Constitution, as enshrined in Article 77 of the Liberian Constitution,” he said.

The ruling CDC Senatorial candidate explained that just as his supporters have demonstrated their rights, other people are not patient rather they are very angry because those supporters have decided to carry him as their next senator.

He then advised his followers not to respond with violence if anybody comes with violence and also not to respond with insult if anyone comes with insult.

He also told his supporters to remain peaceful if anybody accuses them falsely, because they are supporting his senatorial bid, but encouraged them to go on December 8 and execute their constitutional right to vote.

Rep. Jones has served for two and a half years, but was petitioned by some Margibians to contest the pending senatorial election based on what they termed, “his numerous developmental initiatives in a relatively short period of time” in the County.

Rep. Jones accepted the citizens’ petition and was subsequently endorsed by the three political parties forming the Coalition for Democratic Change such as the Congress for Democratic Change, the National Patriotic Party and the Liberia People Democratic Party, respectively.

Since then, the Margibi County Lawmaker has received series of endorsements from various sectors including motorcycle unions, and citizens from across the County.
