Maryland County Officials Dedicate US$60K CDF Projects

HARPER, Liberia- Authorities in the southeastern Maryland County have completed and turned over a modern Commissioner Compound and a Youth Center to residents of Yadiaken and Glofaken Town in Karluway and Barrobo Districts

The dedication of the Commissioner Compound and Youth Center are part of three projects identified by residents of both districts during the 2015 Maryland County Sitting and are also believed to be the first projects initiated and completed through the County Development Funds

Mr. George A. Prowd, Superintendent of Maryland lauded the county legislative caucus for singing the resolution reached by their citizens during the 2015 sitting which allow him to access the funds for the erection of the projects

He described the projects as the start of   development for the county while and disclosed that plans are underway to secure more funds for the initiation of additional projects

He further that his office is currently working with the Ministry of Finance to ensure that all funds belonging to Maryland are provided for development purposes adding that he will make sure the county benefit from her portion of the national cake

“We have a very good working relationship with the county legislative caucus because it is through them that we have things working here for us. He further without their support our administration will fail so we want you as citizens to also work with us for a better Maryland, because if this county fall we all will fall and people will blame us,” he cautioned

Superintendent Prowd named the teachers quarter in Cavalla Town and a bridge as projects expected to be turned over in late September through the County Development Funds

Speaking at the dedication ceremonies, residents of Yadiaken and Glofaken Towns commended the members of Maryland legislative caucus and local county administration for the developments but challenged them to do more

They indicated that the projects are the first modern projects in their respective towns since their establishment decades ago

The residents are however calling for inclusive citizens’ participation if the county rural parts must develop and progress as done in other parts of Liberia

J. Gbajulue Toe, Statutory Superintendent of Barrobo Statutory District on behalf of his people lauded the county officials under the leadership of George A. Prowd as Superintendent and expressed confident that his administration is one that tend to bring the developments denied them over the years

Meanwhile, Statutory District Superintendent Toe is calling on citizens and residents of Barrobo to unit and joins efforts with the county administration to foster development.
