Maryland County Records 2 Covid Deaths, 32 New Confirmed Cases

As Liberia continues to battle the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, two persons have died from the virus, with 32 new confirmed cases in the southeastern Maryland County, nearly 237 miles from Monrovia, the Health Officer in the area has disclosed.

Dr.  Methodoius George made the disclosure earlier this week in the county’s capital, harper in an interview with www.newspublictrust.com..

He said that the County has recorded 32 confirmed cases with several contacts, but assured the citizens of being equipped and prepared.

“With The experiences we had from Ebola and the previous outtbreak, We are ready to combat the virus,” the Maryland County Health Officer boasted.

Dr. George further noted that three persons have been discharged, while three others have been placed on oxygen, and the rest are responding to treatment.

“Our County has recorded her 32 confirmed cases, therefore, I am encouraging every citizens and residents of Maryland County to remain calm, but we all must keep observing the preventive measures of Corona Virus. Wash your hands regularly, observe the social distancing, put on the nose mask, avoid over-crowdedness and the list goes on,” CHO Dr. Methodius George stressed.

The Health Offer used the occasion to call on humanitarian organizations and individuals to send their full support in the County to help combat the deadly Corona Virus, at the same time he’s extended gratitude to Partners Health for their kind support to the Maryland County Health Team.

He also said that the County Health Team has received a new Ambulance from the UNHCR to help transport patients in the County.

Nationally, Liberia has 2, 510 active confirmed cases, with a total of 144 deaths, according the National Public Health Institute (NPHIL) COVID-19 Update published on Tuesday, July 13, 2021.
