The war of words between the new Secretary General-elect of the ruling CDC party who is also Mayor of Monrovia, Jefferson Koijee  continues unabated.

Mayor Koijee has branded Brown, former Liberian Ambassador to the United Nations and one-time National Security Advisor to former President Charles Ghankay Taylor as a “murderer who needs repentance”.

According to the CDC executive, Mr. Brown who is now CPP leader Alexander Cummings Campaign Team, should not pretend to be a messenger of the people to lead the planned December 17 opposition protest, which has been code named, “we are tired of suffering ‘ to what the Mayor say is his history, claiming that Brown ‘victimized Liberians in the past’.

On December 1, 2022, the tough-talking former Information Minister now team leader of Team Cummings at the news conference criticized heavenly the George Weah administration for its alleged failure to work in the interest of the Liberian people due to the current suffering.

Mr. Brown, who was also Information Minister in the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf’s government, also claimed that citizens of Liberia are suffering under the leadership of the CDC and described President Weah’s ongoing visit to Europe and other Countries as complete national embracement.

But reacting to Lewis Brown’s Criticism against him (Koijee) and the government over the weekend, the CDC Secretary General Koijee described Brown’s advocacy and campaign as undemocratic.

Mr.  Koijee claimed that during Liberia’s 14 years of conflict in Liberia, Mr. Brown requested the head of now Sinoe County Senator J. Milton Teahjay.

The Monrovia City Mayor maintained that Mr. Brown who served as Security Advisor to former President Charles Taylor allegedly wanted to kill Teajay and  Mr. Teajay who he said was rescued by the people of Kru Town.

Speaking to a cross-section of citizens and supporters in New Kru town on Friday, December 2, 2022, the CDC secretary-general urged the former Information Minister to rally Bishops and Prelates across the country to pray for his repentance instead of rallying people to protest against the CDC government.

Mr. Lewis Brown is the lead campaigner of a planned December 17 CPP rally announced against the CDC government in Monrovia under the title, we tried suffering.

“This is the man who calls for the use of lethal force on innocent people. A man who is associated with everything that plunged this country into chaos. What moral a Lewis Brown has to talk about the suffering of our people? A desperate hustler like Lewis Brown can only survive in conflict”.  Jefferson Koijee noted.

The new Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) headed by the leader of the opposition Alternative National Congress or ANC Alexander Cummings recently confirmed the holding of a massive peaceful protest on December 17, 2022, to send a message to the government about the sufferings of Liberian citizens.

Meanwhile, CDC Secretary General Koijee has warned the ANC against allowing Lewis Brown to use their party as a springboard for launching a protest similar to the 1979 rice riot against the government of the late William R. Tolbert.

According to Mr. Koijee, if the Liberian people are suffering they will demonstrate it through their vote asking: “when Mr. Brown did become the spokesman of the Liberian people?”

But Mr. Brown, former Liberian Ambassador to the United Nations, challenged anyone to dare stop and disrupt the CPP peaceful demonstration, because they will not bow to threats and intimidation from some officials of the government.

According to the head of the campaign team of Alexander Cummings, the planned demonstration is not secret because it is the constitutional right of the Liberian people who are experiencing suffering to tell their government about the prevailing downward trend of the socio-economic and security situation in the country.
