Merck Foundation and partners score higher mark in infertility awareness

Merck More than Mother and Merck Foundation are said to have scored higher mark in creating infertility awareness through songs and movies aimed at reducing infertile stigma from childless women and men.

Merck Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Merck KGaA Germany and its vision is a world where everyone can lead a health and fulfilling life.

One of the latest song from Ghana done by Cwesi Oteng and Adina through the office of Ghana’s First Lady Madam Rebecca Akufo Addo.

Several songs and movies have been done from some African countries namely Burundi, Uganda, the Gamba, Sirrea Leone, Senegal among others.

The music are created on sensitized awareness on infertility and to break the stigma from infertility women and men. The music video are created to sensitize awareness on infertility and to break stigma from infertile women and men. Based upon this background, African first ladies have taken the initiative in creating awareness on infertility by producing music video through their local dialect and English in their setting.

African First Ladies are also Merck More than Mother ambassador in their respective countries.

These songs and movies made on infertility awareness started 2016 where the foundation has been staging music videos, fashion and media training to reduce the awareness through music videos in our African setting that women alone should not be blamed if the unable to bear children.

Merck Foundation song from Ghana concept came from the foundation Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Rasha Kelej to signal message of infertility awareness through music videos.

The music or video campaign message also took keen interest in women and men who don’t fertility treatments. The foundation has options and is doing more by hosting fashion shows and reducing the awareness in the simplest forms through music videos.

Furthermore, the foundation sponsors fertility training and embryology in three months course by clinical and practical matters in more than thirty countries in Africa.

The infertility musical message is part of an ongoing campaign known as More than A Mother from Merck Foundation.

The Merck Foundation was established in 2017 with an aims to improve the health and well-being of people and advance their lives through science and technology and their efforts are primarily focused on improving access to quality and equitable healthcare solutions in underserved communities. It also helps in building healthcare and scientific research capacity and empowering people in STEM(Science, technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) with a special focus on women and youth.
