Campaigners Against Misinfo & Disinfo Takes Public Awareness To Monrovia’s Bushrod Island Suburb

Campaigners Against Misinformation and Disinformation, a local nonprofit in Liberia, over the weekend conducted a Misinformation and Disinformation Awareness Campaign at the Borough Recreation Intellectual Forum in New Kru Town and the Martin Sheriff Intellectual Forum and Veteran Bureau in Duala in the suburb of Monrovia.

Misinformation and Disinformation have real-life consequences that can lead to deaths, riots, and uprisings, the group is explaining to communities.

According to CAMDL Executive Director, Taweh Johnson, the Organization is going into communities with the campaign to enlighten citizens on the danger of misinformation and disinformation in Liberia and how to verify information before sharing it because even though there are no sounds of guns, other potential sources of conflict such as misinformation and disinformation still exist in Liberia.

CAMDL team taught over 30 Members of the two Intellectual centers how to verify information before sharing it. CAMDL Musical Artist sang CAMDL Misinfo and Disinfo Music as part of the Awareness Campaign.

Members of both Intellectual Centers appreciated the efforts of CAMDL and called on International Partners to support CAMDL in reaching out to the remote parts of Liberia with this campaign.

The vision of the organization is to make citizens responsible promoters of reliable and credible information in Liberia, says a press release from the institution.
