A conference in Cabo Verde has adopted a model policy framework to uphold information integrity, enhancing digital platform governance, protecting human rights, building resilience against disinformation in West Africa and the Sahel.
The policy also focuses on collaborative engagement for inclusive access to information in the region.
According to the Executive Director of the Campaigners Against Misinformation and Disinformation in Liberia (CAMDL), Taweh Johnson who attended the conference in the Carbo Verde capital, Praia recently, UNESCO and the Cabo Verde organized the conference with support from partners.
The regional policy framework for Information Integrity along with the Action Plan was officially adopted at that meeting.
Mr. Johnson said that these essential instruments now lead the way in building trust, strengthening social cohesion, and advancing resilient digital ecosystems in West Africa and the Sahel.
Liberia does not have a National Information Integrity Policy. However, CAMDL has announced to collaborate with the government, fact-checking organizations, the media, and civil society organizations to craft Liberia’s National Information Integrity Policy.
