Acting DG Saygbe Hails NaFAA Employees For Supporting Reforms @Year-End Celebrations
The National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority Workers Association (NAFAAWA), in collaboration with the Management of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA), has hosted a year-end celebration near the Authority’s Mesurado Pier Technical Office on Bushrod Island, urging the workforce to foster a renew vision for the sector.
Addressing the workforce, NAFAAWA Acting President and Associate Director, Jeremiah Wonplu Nah, called on staff to strengthen cooperation with Management to ensure the sustainability of Liberia’s fisheries and aquaculture sector.
According to Mr. Nah, every employee has a responsibility to contribute to the advancement of the sector, regardless of position. He emphasized the importance of collective effort as NaFAA enters 2026, particularly in achieving revenue targets, contributing to the national budget, and ensuring the timely disbursement of salaries.
Mr. Nah also urged staff to adopt a more positive work attitude in the new year, warning that behaviors capable of undermining the Authority’s integrity will not be tolerated.

Meanwhile, Acting Director General J. Cyrus Saygbe commended NaFAA employees for supporting the reforms introduced since his appointment in March 2025. He expressed appreciation for the workforce’s commitment to rebranding and transforming the Authority.
Mr. Saygbe revealed that Management plans to implement additional reform measures beginning in 2026, aimed at strengthening partnerships with development partners, attracting new collaborations, and closing revenue gaps to enhance sector growth and development.
He emphasized that the successful transformation of the fisheries and aquaculture sector cannot be achieved by Management alone, but through the collective involvement of all NaFAA staff nationwide.
The year-end celebration also served as a platform for staff engagement, reflection, and renewed commitment to institutional growth, says a NaFAA press release signed by Lewis E.B. Konoe, Director of Communications and Media Services.
