Monrovia-The Center for National Documents and Records Agency (CNDRA) Director General, Emmanuel A. Lomax has underscored the need for the establishment of modern public libraries across Liberia.

He said founding public libraries projects in a poor country like Liberia is key to the development of this society.

He made the disclosure at a program marking the launch of the 13th Regional Diaspora Caucus (SRDC) International summit recently held at the Centennial Memorial Pavilion on Ashmun Street in central Monrovia.

The summit which brought together stakeholders from the education sector and Africans in the diaspora is expected to last from the 8th – 13th of November 2021.

According to Mr. Lomax, the task of any public library is to improve the quality of life of the citizens thereby providing access to library services, materials and programs that encourage education and cultural improvement.

“So, I am very glad today that all of the efforts can be consummated in inviting them here today to start this conference and highlight the development of Liberia through the Library project,” the CNDRA boss added.

He thanked his predecessor, Mr. C. Neileh Daitouah for initiating such a National Public Library project with the Diaspora Liberians with the vision of building a literate society.

The Liberian National Archives Director General Emmanuel A. Lomax concluded his special statement by cautioning delegates of the summit that have traveled from the United States and other parts of the world to observe all health protocols instituted by the Liberian Government through the Ministry of Health.

For her part, Madam Louise Saiway, the Founder and CEO of the SRDC applauded DG Lomax for the huge transformation at the CNDRA in the absence of low budgetary allocation.

She announced that her institution will provide fully funded sponsorship to fifty Liberian students (50) to study in America whilst seventy two (72) foreign instructors brought from abroad will be deployed in the fifteen counties to help improve the education system in Liberia.
