As President Boakai Turns Over Chinese-Provided Digital Fingerprint Machines

The newly dedicated state-of –the art crime lab at the Liberia National Police would simplify the investigative process, ultimately leading to more effective law enforcement, says Liberia’s Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Cllr. Oswald Tweh.

Justice Minister, Oswald Tweh was speaking earlier this week (Tuesday), after President Joseph N Boakai turned over a fingerprint machines to the Liberia National Police aims at tracking criminals investigation faster.

Cllr. Tweh underscored the significance of the fingerprint technology in facilitating criminal investigations, expressing appreciation to the Chinese government for their generous donation.

The donation of fingerprint technology is expected to greatly enhance the investigative capabilities of the police force, leading to increased efficiency in solving criminal cases, the Liberian Justice Minister pointed out.

This contribution from the Chinese government serves as a testament to the strong bilateral ties between Liberia and China, a relationship that both parties are keen to nurture and strengthen further. With ongoing support from international partners, Liberia’s security department continues to make strides towards providing a safer environment for its citizens.

During the presentation, President Boakai emphasized the importance of trust in the security department.

President Boakai expressed gratitude for the Chinese Ambassador’s continuous support

The Liberian leader highlighted the need for a strong relationship between the two countries. In separate remarks, the Chinese Ambassador acknowledged the President’s acceptance and reiterated the importance of maintaining peaceful relations between Liberia and China.

Liberia National Police headed Inspector General, Gregory Coleman in turn, expressed their gratitude towards the government of Liberia and the Chinese Ambassador Yin Chengwu for their invaluable support.

“Thanks to the new fingerprint technology” President Boakai’s recognition of the police force and his commitment to improving security in Liberia demonstrate his dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of Liberian citizens, IG Coleman asserted.

For his part, Chinese Ambassador Yin Chengwu said, It’s a great privilege to attend the Handover Ceremony of the Project of Fingerprint Examination Lab although the fingerprint laboratory is still in the test-running stage, it will be an accelerator.

Ambassador Chengwu also said that It will be an accelerator of capacity-building of Liberia’s law enforcement. The equipment of the lab is advanced. This lab is the first of its kind in Liberia. A week ago, the technicians from China installed the equipment and trained the Liberian operation officers.

The Chinese side will continue to provide technical support to ensure the normal operation of the lab.

“I believe that the LNP will be able to provide the Liberian people with better public security services.”

“It will be an accelerator of advancing President Boakai’s ARREST agenda, of which Rule of Law is a vital part.”

The Chinese Ambassador added:

“We wish President Boakai every success in promoting the ARREST agenda. It is important to create a safe environment to practice “Rule of law.This lab will enable the LNP to make better analysis in the criminal investigation, and give the LNP more methods to combat crime.

“I am sure that the lab will help the Liberian government to promote its rule of law agenda. It will be an accelerator of China-Liberia relations,”

According to the agreement between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Liberia, the Chinese Government consented to undertake the Project of Fingerprint Examination Laboratory. Since President Boakai took office, China-Liberia relations have been always on the rise. This lab is the latest testament to it.

“I am convinced that the friendship and cooperation between China and Liberia will be further strengthened. Ladies and gentlemen, China and Liberia are good friends and good partners. Under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, China-Liberia relationship is entering a new stage,” Chengwu said.

He stated that China will adhere to the principles of sincerity, real results, amity and good faith, and jointly promote friendly, pragmatical and win-win cooperation between China and Liberia.

Last week, the third plenum of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China was successfully held in Beijing. By implementing the spirit of the plenum, China will further deepen reform comprehensively, and advance Chinese modernization.

Meanwhile, Liberia is advancing modernization through the ARREST agenda. China and Liberia will be good partners on the way to realize modernization through mutual support and alignment of the development strategy.

With the Forum on China and Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) to be held in Beijing in the fall, China-Liberia relations will achieve more fruitful results, reach a higher level in the future.
