After Mo Ali, the opposition Unity Party National General Secretary was expected at 10am, at the Liberia National Police headquarters today, Friday, March 19, 2021 to explained what authorities considered a threatening comment made of Facebook recently, but he has so far not shown up.
Liberia National Police Spokesman, Moses Carter told Journalists Friday afternoon that the UP Secretary General is now wanted by the LNP.
One of the lawyers representing Mr. Ali, Cllr. Findley Y. Kangar has disclosed to the media that his client fell sick between 10:30-11Am on Friday, something which prevented him from honoring the invitation of the Police.
Earlier reports quote Mr. Ali as claiming that some state security operatives were tailing him.
Cllr. Kangar said a written communication was given to government of Liberia through the police IG Patrick Sudue but awaits respond to their communication.
On Wednesday March 17,,2021, a text message invitation was written to the Unity Party National General Secretary for questioning over his Facebook page.
Less than 24 hours after the Unity Party General Secretary wrote his post threatening the National Elections Commission, the headquarters of NEC was reportedly attacked with petrol bomb, causing damage to properties estimated at US$45,000.00 properties got damaged.
In his Facebook page Mo Ali said on March 1, 2021,, “Dear National Elections Commission (NEC), we understand the Ploy. But try it and you will see what’s gonna be the end result.”. Two weeks later, the NEC HQ was petrol bombed.
Like the Unity Party official, political activist Menipakai Dumoe, acting COP chairman was also invited by the police last year in June for saying that Liberia don’t need bag of rice but AK-47.
A Facebook post in which he was invited firstly, later arrested and detained at headquarters of the Liberia National Police for more that three days. But later set free after there was no charge established to forward him to court.
Following his detention at the Liberia National Police headquarter, and his subsequent release, he contested for the 2020 Special Senatorial Election in Bong County with a campaign message Free Charles Taylor in which he .
In another development, Lofa County District #1 Representative Francis S. Nyumalin has also been invited by the National Security Agency (NSA) for questioning over another public statement he made, warning that if Senator-elect Brownie Samuka is stop from taking his Senate seat, Liberians must “get ready for an interim government”.
