Kolahun, Liberia-The leading GSM company Orange Liberia early this week commissioned a new 3G site in Kolba City, Kolahun District in Liberia’s northwestern Lofa County close to the Guinean border.
According to Organge Liberia management, the construction of the new 3G site follows an assessment of the district and several calls from both officials and citizens of the region to extend their services there.
Chief Executive Officer Mamadou Couibaly disclosed that the aim of Orange Liberia, formerly Cellcom, is to ensure that all living across the length and breadth of the county are connected to the rest of the World.
According to the team, the commissioning of the new 3G site is in fulfillment of their promise to the Liberian people.
“This will now enable citizens of the district to participate in promotions from Orange Liberia as done in other parts of the country” he noted.
He said the company will ensure that it covers all parts of the country because Monrovia is not Liberia.
Mr. Coulibaly added that the newly commissioned facility will also help improve the economic status of the district and Lofa County at large, saying they are committed to constructing more sites across the country as the need arises.
Also speaking at the commissioning ceremony in Kolba city, District #3 Representative Clarence Kortu Massaquoi praised Orange Liberia for the newly constructed 3G site, noting that efforts by this GSM Company over the years to bridge the communication gap in the country.
“Gone are the days where before obtaining a phone or scratch card, you must trust your pocket,” Rep. Massaquoi said.
The Lofa law maker however called on the management of Orange Liberia to extend its signals to the Hambel Clan, where he said citizens still climb hills, trees or or go to specific sites in search of signals to communicate.
He also challenged citizens of the district to ensure that the facility is protected and urged this GSM company to do more.
