The victims of the incident in Paynesville outside the Liberian Capital In Monrovia, communities of Cement Hill and Sports Complex, were left Homeless after the heavy rainfall during the Early Morning of Friday. They are threatening to Boycott the December 8 Midterm Senatorial Election due to be conducted throughout the entire Country.
Several Residents of the two slum Communities in the City of Paynesville ELWA were seen moving their materials from their houses from the flood waters in a confused manner to seek refuge at the home of friends and relatives.
The Over three Hundred Victims of flood says they’re going to protest if the is no quick solution from the Government to remedy their situation.
Many of them came out of their various Houses with nothing and even fought hard to save their lives and those of others.
Several Houses have been destroyed, because of the heavy downpour of Rain that led to the flood.
According to Madam Elizabeth Kongar a Resident of Cement Hill Community in ELWA, “my house broke down and my children and I done have anywhere to sleep tonight and the state of Emergency will starts by 6pm.”
“I have live in this Community for over Twenty five years (25) and this never used to happen.”
“I have more than 10 ten children and my House is no more where my children and I will sleep? she asked.
Madam Kongar disclose this that since SETHI and JETTY built the huge Store on the water ways without building water ways for water to leave in 2008.
“SETHI and JETTY Stores were built on the water ways and they don’t care about what we go through as Community members, we are really suffering from the Water.”
“If no intervention from Liberian Government and i’s partners we will take our belongings to the Samuel Kanyon Doe sports Complex and we will be sleeping there until they can intervene.”
They are calling on Youth and Sports Minister Zeagar Wilson to come to their aid by providing food, money and materials.
they warn that if the Liberian Government don’t come to their aid, they will not take part in the upcoming Mid Term Senatorial Election and others in this country.
Other residents and victims of flooding said they don’t have Chairman and people don’t have time for them.
Tina Sieh told this news outlet that her children were sleeping on the floor when the rain started failing and she was sleeping in her bedroom, because the room is small to hold them all.
“What was going to happen to my Children last night and when they were going to get drown? We are calling on the Liberian Government through Ministry of Public works to help construct drainages in their various Communities for the water to leave the Area,”said Madam Sieh.
This Reporter observed that over 90% percent of the total land in that area was covered with water.
“If any want to help build waterways for us, they should not give the Money to Community Leadership because they put their boys together and dig small drainage and put the balance money in their pockets,”one resident said.
“To our Lawmaker if you want to help us please give the Money to the Ministry of Public Works they will do the best work for our Safety and not our Community Leadership.”
On several occasions, some people are said to have collected five hundred Liberian Dollars to dig drainage but nothing concrete was achieved.
