VOINJAMA, Liberia- Citizens in the Bluyeama clan in Zorzor district Lofa County are calling on central government through the Ministry of Public Works for the rehabilitation of two damaged roads in their clan.
Bluyeama Clan comprises of 12 towns with 9 of the 12 towns linking with this deplorable road connecting the Clan with several agricultural products.
On the Boakai government’s ARREST agenda is Roads rehabilitation, something that the ruling Unity Party government has been flagging before taking office on January 22 this year.
The Bluyeama citizens, in a communication addressed to the Lofa County Legislative caucus, disclosed that the two damaged roads are posing serious hardship on them.
The two roads include 40 miles stretch leading to the headquarter of the clan WUOMAI town from the Zelemai junction while the other is 60 miles stretch leading from Konia town through Boi town that is hosting the only clinic in the clan.
A son of the clan Mr. Arthur Fumbah told our correspondent that the two deplorable roads are not only serving the Blueyama clan but also other towns within Kolahun district including the Belleh region.
“The people of Bluyeama Clan have been engaged with fixing the road manually with their hands for years now but what we now need is government’s intervention” Mr. Fumbah indicated.
Our correspondent said road connecting the headquarter of the clan was built by the citizens through a self-help initiative while the road leading from Konia was built through a logging company.
The two roads only have log bridges with no culverts making which makes it very difficult if not impossible for vehicles to travel thereby posing serious constraint on the citizens of the area.
Mr. Fumbah said in addition to the communication to the county caucus, few elders of the clan recently held a round table discussion arranged by Lofa County district #5 representative Augustine B. Chiewolo with officials of the public works ministry.
Meeting with Hon. Chiewolo, MPW Officials and Bluyeama elders
As it stands, the Bluyeama citizens are said to be worried about the current condition of these two roads and hope to see a swift intervention by central government.
According to our correspondent, a patient few months ago expired while in route from the clan to Zorzor for treatment as a result of vehicles not accessing the clan.
When contacted, the secretary of the Lofa County Legislative caucus representative Momo Siafa Kpoto could not confirmed nor reject the clam of a communication of such being served to the county‘s legislative caucus.
According to representative Kpoto, the county caucus will act immediately upon the receipt of the said communication.
