Liberian Writer, based in the United States, Dr. K-Moses Nagbe, has a new Book, Born of the Village Son, a sequel to The Village Son, the first fictional work by Mrs. (Dr.) Dwaboyea Evelyn S. Kandakai, former Ministry of Education of Liberia.

Here is the storyline of “The Village Son”, 138 pages, by Dr. Kandakai:  Neh Gateru, son of a powerful and fear Chief  Gateru of the village of Paley, near Ganta, Nimba County, Liberia, meets Nanny Berry on vacation in Paley and they fall in love. While courting Nanny, Neh Gateru is working to develop his native Paley and surrounding villages.

This improvement of life in rural Liberia leads to some notoriety which soon takes him to the capital, Monrovia.  Here, he begins an advocacy, calling the national government’s attention to the “deplorable conditions” of rural Liberia, especially life in Paley, telling the Government to have a presence in rural Liberia through establishment of modern public facilities similar to the ones in Monrovia.

He says the presence of modern public facilities will reduce human congestion in city centers and that those who had left the rural areas for “modern life” in Monrovia will return home. But the national political ruling class feels offended by his advocacy and cuts down his life.

Now in the US, Dr. Nagbe, with a Doctorate Degree in Education, is lecturing at University, writing, and producing Books. Some of his Books are: Grass Grazes the Land; Sun Set at Midnight; One Sunday in August; Between the Scissors: Growing up as An Afrestern Liberian; and The Kru: A Short Biography.

He’s also an essayist—writer of articles/commentaries

Before travelling to the United States, during Liberia’s civil war time, Author Nagbe had was a lecturer in English and Literature at the University of Liberia (UL).

He’s a founding member of the Liberia Association of Writers (LAW), founded at the Capitol Hill, Monrovia, campus of UL, on the 17th day of July, 1980.

His sequel of Dr. Kandakai’s The Village Son is Born of the Village Son—32 chapters. The summary of Born of the Village Son is on page 8.
