Monrovia–The Press Union of Liberia (PUL) announces the opening of a book of condolence for esteemed veteran journalist Frank Loboe, affectionately known as “Dog Pound” , a PUL press release said today, Thursday, January 22, 2026
The solemn ceremony will take place this Friday, 23 January 2026, at the PUL’s Head Office, located at Warner Avenue, 9th Street, Sinkor, commencing at 11 A.M.
Frank Loboe, who passed away on 10 January 2026 at the age of 58 after a prolonged illness, was a prominent figure in the Liberian media landscape. He contributed significantly to various esteemed institutions, including the Liberia Communications Network (LCN) and Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS). Renowned for his engaging voice, Loboe was particularly celebrated for his vibrant analyses on radio and television, as well as for his live sports commentary that captivated audiences nationwide.
The PUL expresses deep sorrow over the loss of Loboe, a valued member of our community who not only made his mark in journalism but also explored active politics during his lifetime. His unwavering passion for storytelling and his commitment to journalism will continue to inspire generations of Liberian media practitioners.
In honor of Loboe’s life and contribution to society, his family has organized a wake-keeping on the same day, 23 January 2026, at the Loboe Residence on Coleman Avenue (between 12th and 13th Streets), near the Levi C. Williams School, starting at 7 P.M. The funeral services will follow on Saturday, 24 January 2026, at the S.T. Nagbe United Methodist Church on 13th Street in Sinkor, beginning at 10 A.M. The burial will take place in Congo Town.
