Rep. Mariamu Fofana Wants Parents’ Investment In Children’s Education

GBARNGA, Liberia- Lofa County electoral District #4 Representative Mariamu Beyan Fofana has called on citizens of Liberia to invest in their children’s education despite prevailing challenges confronting the struggling educational sector of the country.

Speaking with our Bong County Correspondent recently in Gbarnga, Bong county Hon. Fofana said Liberia’s situation which makes everything a priority, compels national leadership especially community people even more than ever before, to go the extra length for education than it has ever done in history.

According to her, the time, resources and efforts attached to education will provide the motivation needed for national growth and development.

The county lawmaker who also Co-chair the House’s Committee on Education and Public Administration, stressed that there can be no adequate national development

drive without quality education.

Despite the economic challenges facing Liberian society, she wants community dwellers take ownership of public facilities and to improve on existing ones.

The Weah led administration, according to Representative Fofana, has been confronted with huge challenges since its inception in 2018and admonished citizens to efforts by government and partners to improve all sectors of the country.

Parents, she said, need to get more involved in developing the learning sector, while beseeching compatriots to be self-confident , set their priorities rights, cultivate the spirit of nationalism, integrity and networking.

She used the occasion to pay tribute to Education Minister Professor Ansu Sonii for the meaningful steps taken to remedy some of the constraints facing the education sector such as addressing the concerns of volunteer teachers, the pending renovation of public school facilities among others.

She then assured the willingness of the Joint Committee on Education to advocate for budgetary increment for the education sector to at least 25%.
