FLASHBACK: Former Pres. Sirleaf and Pres. Weah during Weah’s Jan. 22, 2019 Inauguration

Speaking during a news conference on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at the CDC headquarters in Monrovia, Chairman Morlu launched wild allegations against some of the individuals who are planning the June 7 protest.

He those who are organizing the pending protest are all individuals with bad records who are willing to revert Liberia’s gains made to its bitter past.

According to him, former Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf was allegedly angry because her son, Mr. Charles Sirleaf was arrested and imprisoned in connection with the 16 billion Liberian dollars saga. Charles, who is currently on bail, is charged with economic sabotage and other crimes.

The CDC Chairman also named Senators Sando D. Johnson of Bomi, Oscar Cooper, Margibi counties Benoni Urey, Alexander Cummings of the ANC and other prominent Liberians who he said are openly and secretly supporting the protest.

“Those who are planning this protest should be aware that we know them and any chaos they will be held responsible,” the Chairman of the ruling party warned.

Mr. Morlu said when those who are planning the protest started with ‘Weah Step down, but said since they were not getting the support from the citizens, they changed it to ‘Save the State’.

According to him, the intention of those who are planning the protest is to convince the citizens under the bender save the state, but said that they have a sinister motive.

“But the hole they dug for us, we jump over it,” the CDC official added.

Speaking further, the CDC Chairma said that he has in his possession a recording wherein the leadership of opposition Unity Party (UP) has promised to fully support the protest.

“Let me tell my partisans again that they should not get in the streets on June 7,” Mr. Morlu said.

According to the CDC Chairman, his party has not authorized anyone to counter protest contrary to rumors in some quarters of Liberia that they (CDC) were planning a counter protest.

“I am calling one those of you who may be tempted to carry out a counter protest to stay off the streets,” Mr. Morlu cautioned CDC supporters.

According to him, the CDC led government under the stewardship of President George Weah is very busy building roads, schools, hospitals and as such they do not have any time to get engaged into any counter protest. “Those that have the intention to reverse our peace have no place in our society” Morlu added.

CDC threatens Lone Star Cell/MTN

Meanwhile, the ruling party Chairman has threatened to call on Liberians to desist from subscribing with Lonestar cell MTN, if the GSM provider refuses to distance itself from its biggest shareholder Benoni Urey.

Mr. Morlu said Mr. Urey Political Leader of the All Liberian Party is dragging the GSM Company into politics and sharing call records of Government officials with vocal talk show host Henry Costa.

The Controversial CDC Chairman however pointed out that he has no proof to substantiate his allegation against Lonestar-Cell MTN.
