The Port Truckers Association of Liberia has rejected the establishment of a group calling itself, the National Truckers Union of Liberia purposely to regulate truckers and carry containers in and out  the National Port Authority.

Following the election in the Port Truckers Association of Liberia, some members, who were defeated, have ganged up and have established a new group known as the National Port Truckers Association of Liberia.

Addressing a press conference in Monrovia, the association’s President, Abraham Kamara said the Port Truckers Association of Liberia is a only full-fledge institution recognized by the government since 2004 to do trucking business at the Free Port of Monrovia

According to him, since the issuance of license as a legally registered institution, the Port Truckers Association of Liberia has been doing business with other port users without any hindrance.

Mr. Kamara explained that the Port Truckers Association has obtained all legal documents, including writing of its constitution and probated them.

The Port Truckers Association of Liberia has also managed to maintain a very good and understanding relationship with NPA family, other port users and businesses to keep the Liberian economy vibrant and stable

He is therefore warning the originators of the “bogus group” to desist from venturing in creating confusion among the port truckers and back of now because their efforts will be met with the full weight of the laws.

“It is extremely unlawful and unacceptable to have two associations to operate with the same purpose within the same vicinity,” Mr. Kamara said; adding: “because this action on the part of the originator is nefarious, malicious and it is introduced of their desperations for power,” Mr. Kamara said.

The association is therefore calling on the Liberian government to intervene in this devilish plan by these power greedy individuals

The Port Truckers Association of Liberia President pointed out that his attention was drawn to report of this bogus group when some individuals were attempting to regulate the affairs of port truckers and wishing to serve as an umbrella institution for truckers within the vicinity of the port

There has been no word from the management of the National Port Authority regarding this development among members of one of the bodies affiliating with the Freeport of Monrovia.
