SPORTS: Africa Sports Academy Appoints Rep. Ellen Attoh-Wreh As Honorary Member

With just 24 hours after clinching the first ever domestic league trophy and in preparation for the 2023 National Third Division Regional and Promotional Playoff, Margibi County top-tier club Africa Sports Academy has immediately appointed Representative Ellen Attoh-Wreh as an honorary member.

The District # 3 Margibi County lawmaker Wreh’s appointment was made early Monday morning, 10 April 2023 through the club’s Chief Executive Officer Abert Benjamin Sonie along with club officials.

In a telephone conversation CEO Sonnie said such appointment takes immediate effect as of April 10, 2023.

CEO Sonnie said such appointment was done based on numerous contributions made by the Chief Patron of Sports of District # 3 Margibi County Rep.Ellen Attoh-Wreh over the years.

The Margibi County outfit club Africa Sports Academy won the 2022-2023 LFA- Margibi County Sub-Association/Upper Sub-Committee Third Division League.

An own helped the Champions of the Upper Sub-Committee Africa Sports Academy to clinched the first ever domestic league silverware after a scoreless first half.

Champions Africa Sports Academy pinned Champions Weintown United Football Club 1-0 on Sunday, 9 April in the grandfinal of the Margibi County Championship at the Unification Sports Pitch in Smell No Taste, Harbel.

As for the County Championship It marks the first ever domestic league silverware and also the first team to clinch the Upper Sub-Committee Third Division League since it got reintroduced under the Martin Hayes Leadership of the LFA- Margibi County Sub-Association.

Africa Sports Academy was founded 2018 with a vision and has participated in the top-tier league of Margibi County two times in a row.

As for the appointee, Rep. Ellen Attoh-Wreh is the incumbent Lawmaker of District # 3, Margibi County.

Apart from being a politician, she is a sport lover who has contributed immensely to sports in Liberia, especially Margibi County.

Rep. Wreh is not a novice to sports. She has always been one of the influential persons in the sporting arena in Margibi County– be it football, basketball or Liberia traditional sports, kickball as well as the nation’s most talked about festival–the National County Sports Meet.

Since the introduction of the Margibi County Inter District and Electoral League, Rep Wreh made big contribution to the District that helped in ensuring that the football team clinched the first ever District League Championship a title that she won back-to-back in the football Category as Chief Patron of Sports.

Champions Africa Sports Academy along with Weintown United Football Club will represent Margibi County in this year’s National Third Division Regional and Promotional tournament scheduled for May in Monsterrado County.

In another development, the club’s CEO Sonnie announced that the official program marking the celebration of the club Championship is schedule for Friday, 14 April at the offices of Margibi County’s lone female Lawmaker Rep. Ellen Attoh-Wreh.

This will be climaxed with an official program at a dinner to be held at a location to be announced in the soonest possible time.
