SPORTS: Media Teams Knock Boots In Football In Margibi County, Liberia

Margibi Journalists Association (MARJA) And Bong Media Sports Association  (BMSA) Share Points

The theater for football in Kakata, Margibi County, the Nancy B. Doe Sports Stadium was a scene of fun over the weekend, when it hosted a match between young and inspiring media practitioners of Margibi and Bong Counties.

The well entertaining soccer match was a one day friendly encounter between Margibi Journalist Association (MARJA) and Bong Media Sports Association on Saturday, June 10, 2023.

According to Manager Emmanuel Tophic Degleh, the match was intended for an acquaintance between the two Media institutions and moreover a way of birthday celebration for one of its neighborhoods media colleague in person of Ms.  Florence B.  Flomo.

The Classic FM manager Degleh said though the invitation was based upon a communication send by the Bong Media Sports Association (BMSA), which he saw it very much timely for such acquaintance especially as we approach electioneering period in our Country Liberia.

Wilson Smith’s assist to D. Wilson Normie in the 15th minute of the first half earned Bong Media Sports Association (BMSA) a 1-0 halftime win over Margibi Journalist Association (MARJA).

Back from the that, the home team after several changes during the early minutes of the second after squandered several chances during the first half through the like of its point strikers Joekai George Yango and Stanley Kolubah Johnson from a well defending from the back four and especially a very excellent goalkeeping from of the Bong Media Sports Association (BMSA).

With still much fun and laughter among the players and spectators at the fun park stadium the visitor put out a chase to get on the scoresheet for the second time in the match but was denied by goalkeeper Abraham Teah, who was introduced into the match in the early minutes of the first half. It was after James Mychenburg  started in goal for MARJA.

Rogers got the lone goal for Margibi Journalist Association in the last minute to end the full 90th minute to salvage a point for the home team as both teams played to one-all draw.

It was the first meeting between the both teams as it understood that the Bong Media Sports Association (BMSA) is yet to taste a single defeat since been established.

It can be recalled few days or month ago they were held to a one-all draw with Jungle Energy Power in Bong County.

Players paraded by Margibi Journalist Association ( MARJA) include Stanley Kolubah Johnson,Jeff Kakai,  Patrick Moryor, Jeremiah Yengbeh  and Abraham Teah (Radio Margibi), Ackollie Elijah Nanakpallah, Solomon Kollie, Benson Matic Moko( Classic FM), James Mychenburg (Truth FM Correspondent), Joekai George Yango ( Radio Joy Africa) , Godfrey Morris ( Formerly Radio Margibi) Uriah Rogers former chlid broadcaster among others while Bong Media Sports Association ( BMSA) features player like assit hero Wilson Smith( Radio Gbarnga) , lone goal hero D. Wilson Normie ( Paraclete Radio 93.7 MHZ), Emmanuel Mulbah Ballah, Albert M. Fanie (Super Bongese Radio Station), among others.

About the celebrant

Florence B. Flomo was born 7 June and she is the treasure of the Bong Media Sports Association (BMSA).

She is a young promising female journalist from Bong County where she now works with Association of Liberia Community Radio (ALICOR) in Monsterrado County.

Moreover Ms. Flomo is a former volunteer worker at Paraclete Radio, where she then served as Reporter and Presenter during her days in Bong County.

Prior to her moving to Paraclete Radio she was at the Voice of Reconciliation in Palala and also Radio Gbarnga.

In sports, she is not a novice, as she serves as the Team Manager for one of Bong County top-tier club Phebe Athletic FC.
