HARPER, Liberia- A modern Diversity Park has been dedicated at Tubman University in Harper Maryland County, more than 403 kilometers southeast of Monrovia.
Tubman University (TU) Diversity Park, which is intended to promote unity in diversity, was constructed by the graduating class of academic year 2019- 2020, was on November 27, 2020 dedicated.
Speaking at the dedication ceremony, Mr. Anthony Kawbo, president of the graduating Class “ADutou” said, the project was part of the class’ contribution to the University, as they believe the park will beautify the campus.
“If Tubman University must grow, graduates as well students must contribute to its growth. The park being dedicated today is our way of helping to beautify our campus that we cherish so much,” Mr. Kawbo said.
For his part, Tubman University’s President, Dr. Elliott Wreh-Wilson praised the graduating class for efforts made in beautifying the Campus and promised that the park will be maintained by the University.
He indicated that the construction of the Diversity Park was a positive way of giving back to the University as building the University requires the efforts of every individual, students, faculty members, staff as well the community.
Dr. Wreh-Wilson recounted several contributions made by past graduates but was quick to point out that the park symbolizes unity in diversity.
The park which is worth USD $5,000, hosts the flags of all 15 counties of Liberia symbolizing the celebration of diversity and the promotion of equal opportunities at TU.
Meanwhile, the Diversity Park dedication was attended by Scores of officials including Dr. Francis Karteh Acting Board Chair Tubman University, Liberia’s Assistant Minister of Education Emmanuel Godwin who represented Minister of Education and Students, relatives and guest who came to grace the occasion.
