Some CDC Supporters Threaten To Physically Prevent Police From Effecting Court Eviction Order

As the Liberia National Police prepare to implement a court order to evict the former ruling CDC Party from its headquarter tomorrow, Saturday, August 23, 2025, some Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) supporters are threatening to prevent the police action.

In a statement posted on its official Facebook page today, Friday, the LNP said:

“The Liberia National Police (LNP) informs the public that due to the enforcement of a court eviction order, traffic will be diverted in Monrovia on Saturday, August 23, 2025.”

But speaking tonight on Kings FM 88.5 owned by former President George Manneh Weah, the CDC supporters vowed to physically resist the Police planned eviction on Saturday, with some of the callers on the live phone-in show even threatening to attack the homes and family members of top brass of the national police.

Tonight’s Kings FM show was a special edition of “Face the Nation” which is produced by the Station Manager, Abraham Godsent Wheon. One CDC militant even used the live show to instigate CDC supporters to engage in all-out violent acts to resist the planned eviction.

The Civil Law Court ‘A’, at the Temple of Justice has ordered the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) part of former President George Manneh Weah to vacate its national headquarters in Monrovia’s Congo Town suburb immediately, but CDC’s lawyers have taken exception to the ruling.

The property, spanning 4.23 acres, has been legally affirmed to belong to the Barnard family estate.

In his ruling delivered today, Monday August 4, 2025, Judge Smith upheld the legitimacy of a sale and purchase agreement between CDC and the estate’s administrators. The decision follows a motion for summary judgment filed by attorneys representing the Barnards family, which the court granted—citing no material facts in dispute.

After the recent lower court ruling, Lawyers of CDC excepted and said they were fiing an appeal to the Supreme Court, demanding further review through Justice in Chambers, Cieaneh Clinton-Johnson.
